A little about me...

Hi, my name is Wanda.  I am one of eight children, sixth child in the pecking order.  I have a fraternal twin sister.  I am a preschool Special Education teacher.  Throughout my life I have always had a great LOVE for animals, especially cats and dogs.  Ever since I was a young child I thought my goal in life would be to become a veterinarian.  However, emotionally I didn't feel I could become one due to all the heartache involved in not being able to save every animal.  I have always had, and still have, the drive to help those in need, especially animals.  As a result, I came up with the idea to start my own shelter called The Guardian Angel Cat Haven, Inc. to help all cats that are in need of a forever caring, loving, and safe home.  In addition to helping cats, I am the proud owner of eight dogs: 1 Beagle mix and 7 Pitbulls.  Needless to say... I am ALWAYS busy and on the go between work and taking the best of care of my animal haven.

The History or Story Behind My Site

One day my six-year-old nephew found a newborn kitten that was abandoned by his mother.  My father and I took on the responsibility of parenting the little male kitten; my father as the "father figure" an myself as the "mother figure".  My father took care of him during the day while I was at work, then I took care of him throughout the early evening, night, and early morning until it was time for me to leave for my teaching job.  We named the kitten Oreo.  Taking care of Oreo consisted of bottle feeding him, and 'yes', burping him, as well as stimulating him to go to the bathroom until he was able to do these necessary functions on his own.  Eventually word got out that I took in abandoned, homeless, and stray cats, so people started to come to me to shelter and care for these poor helpless creatures in need of a loving, safe haven.
